The Winner Takes It All

So, today was preeety fun. It all started with that X-tremely hard test that we took for the first two hours of school. It was nice and easy the first four problems and then BAM!! it just totally destroys you. But, i got out of Spanish, so not all is lost.

Then the rest of the day went pretty normally. Busy work in Gieger, test review in Engineering, photoshop fun in Harriman, and some more FCAT book in math, plus we picked countries for Mrs. Reynen's project. I picked Italy, of course. Should be fun.

Anyways, the conclusion of my day was definitely the best. We had our first track meet of the season today, a dual meet against Westwood high school. I ran in the Mile, Half-mile, and the 4x400 meter relay. First up was the mile, and i was kinda nervous going in cause i knew i had a chance of winning the whole thing. So the race starts, and the first three laps goes perfectly. The guy in first went very comfortable and slow while i stayed right on his shoulder the whole race. Then at the beginning of the final lap, i gunned it and took the lead and held onto it the rest of the race with a big kick. I finished in 4:56, one second off my best time in 40 degree weather, so pretty good.

Then about an hour and a half later, i lined up for the 800. Now, in this race i totally accepted that i had almost no chance of winning. I mean, i was going up against our best 800 runner, and i had just run the mile. But i went out conservative the first lap right on his shoulder, and when we got to 300 meters left, he tried to surge away from me, but i held on and stayed right behind him all the way up to the final 100 meters. At this point, i just gave it everything i had, and what do you know, i ended winning by a second with a 2:08 flat.

The final event was the 400 meter relay, and by that time i was dead, but i still managed to run a 56, and my team won, so i pulled off the proverbial hat trick today. 3 events, 3 wins. Pretty good.

Anyways, its 10 o' clock, and i have to go take a shower and go to bed, so laters guys. Song today is The Winner Takes It All by ABBA. Take a listen.
